The Scout Course develops the readiness and functional skills, of officers and enlisted volunteers who are eligible for assignment to units whose primary mission is to engage in security, search and rescue, and direct disaster relief in order to return to the ALSDF a mentally and physically tough leader capable of (planning, organizing, and executing) a small unit operation in any environment.

 

  1. Course Description: The Scout Course is designed to provide soldiers with training in Leadership Skills, Reconnaissance, Land Navigation, Map Reading, Field First Aid, Survival, Leader Technical and Tactical Values, Attributes, Skills, and Actions needed to lead a squad or platoon size unit. Each training day there will be one day classroom and one day field.
  2. Prerequisites: the individual must be highly motivated and highly dedicated. The individual must be physically and mentally fit. The course is open to all ranks. Enlisted must have completed the Brigade Basic Course and any other course up to their rank (Example SGT must have BBOC and PLDC; SFC must have BBOC, BNOC, and ANOC etc.) All officer must have completes Officer Commissioning School and any other course up to their rank (example 1LT must have OCS and OBC; CPT must have OCS, OBC, and OAC etc.)
