SEARCH AND RESCUE ASSESSMENT AND SELECTION
Assesses and selects soldiers for attendance at the C-103-1 Search and Rescue Qualification Course This program allows SAR personnel an opportunity to assess each soldier's capabilities by testing their physical, emotional, and mental stamina.
The SAR-AS also allows each soldier the opportunity to make a meaningful and educated decision about Search and Rescue
Training for and participation in these missions are arduous and somewhat hazardous. For these reasons it is a prerequisite that every prospective “SAR candidate” successfully completes the 1-day SAR-AS course and be selected for SAR Training.
The SAR-AS Course assesses and selects soldiers for attendance at the SAR-QC. This course uses a selection process that assesses each candidate for six attributes that are important for all SAR personnel. These attributes are intelligence, trainability, physical fitness, motivation, influence, and judgment.
All candidates participate in a variety of activities designed to place them under various forms of physical and mental stress. It assesses potential and qualities through behavioral observation, analysis via performance measure, and recording data. All tasks are performed in a neutral environment with limited information and no performance feedback.
SAR candidates must have all required training up to their present rank in order to qualify for consideration. Please view the prerequisites link below.
